The Formula Kid is made up of members (from left to right) Steve Nowels (Double Bass/Electric Bass/Vocals), Drew Johnson (Guitar/Vocals/Tenor Sax) and Dino Nicastro (Drums/Percussion). This trio puts out enough voltage to single-handledly keep metro St. Louis homes out of the dark. Formed in early 1999 as The Drew Johnson Band, their debut CD "Invention of the Wheel" continues to gain recognition and exposure across the U.S.
"We definitely cover all ends
of the spectrum," Johnson says. "We think of ourselves
as a pop-rock band, but the pendulum swings pretty heavily
from all-out rock 'n' roll to R&B and even into country,
at times."
"As with any band, we have
a wide array of influences and think we showcase that. Steve
and Dino come from a Marvin Gaye, Curtis Mayfield, Smokey
Robinson school of music. And I'm a Van Halen guy.
We mix those together
