Mixing the heartfelt angst of a singer/songwriter with the brashness of a garage rock band, LAPUSH tend to defy most genres with their pretense-free, orchestral approach to songwriting. The lyrics are reminiscent, without being derivative, of mid-period Dylan. Passionate, but never pompous. At times, the music recalls early U2, building on simple themes and sparse layers. Once you think you've figured them out, they hit you with a song like "Tout le monde vous veut vivant", which translates: "Everybody wants you alive". The first single, "Through It All" is currently being played on radio stations across the country.

PunkRockTheory.com Belgium E.P. Review Aug 2004
Hailing from St. Louis, MO, USA, comes LAPUSH, a new band around Thom Donovan who some of you might remember from his two-year stint with Capitol recording artist, STIR. When that came to an end, Thom decided to focus on a studio project he had started along with his brother, Steve and drummer, Brett Voelker. Bassist, Kevin Bachmann and keyboard player, Casey Bazzell joined a bit later and rounded out the line-up.
The band may reside in St. Louis but they definitely have their ears turned to Britain 'cuz the 5 songs on LAPUSH’s debut EP are heavily influenced by bands such as the Stereophonics and Coldplay. Slow rock or alternative pop, whatever you wanna call it, it’ll never cease being beautiful and the way the keyboards are interwoven with the melodic guitars will never become stale.
LAPUSH is in the studio now working on their debut full-length and I for one am definitely looking forward to that one. For fans of Ryan Adams and the abovementioned bands.

Playback STL Live Review July 2004

LAPUSH is certainly one of the more original and unique band’s playing around the St. Louis area. The group mixes keyboards with guitars to come up with a smooth, melodic sound that is a bit like an updated version of 80’s new wave, yet is a sound they can call their own. With great, melodic guitar work, neat keyboard parts, and good vocal performances, its hard not to be drawn into the band’s set. Even though the music is fairly mellow and the group’s stage show is laid back, songs like ‘Aurora’ and ‘Through it All’ are sure to catch people’s attention and leave them wanting more. LAPUSH offers an atmospheric sound that is an alternative to a lot of the guitar rock and pop band’s in the area; its well worth checking them out and giving them a listen.
